Beavers Cubs Scouts

About Us

Scouting is one of the great success stories of the last 100 years. From an experimental camp for 20 boys on Brownsea island in 1907, it has spread to 216 countries and territories, with an estimated 28 million members.

We are 1st Pen-Y-Fai Scout Group, offering children from all walks of life access to scouting from the age of 6 through to 18 years. Our Group has a Beaver Colony, a Cub Pack and a Scout Troop.

Each section is aimed at the following age groups, although the group leaders have discretion to allow exceptions in some cases:

  • Beavers (ages 6–8)
  • Cubs (ages 8-10½)
  • Scouts (ages 10½–14½)

We are very lucky to have a scout hall which is set in a lovely wood, and our group offers a chance for the adventurous to fulfil their desires – from camping to hiking to cooking, we offer everything for the child who loves the outdoors. We also spend time learning how to be better people, looking at cultures and beliefs worldwide, and exploring how we fit into the world as a whole.

These life skills, along with the fun and sense of complete achievement, is our ultimate aim: helping children develop into young, considerate adults who respect others as much as they respect themselves.

We would welcome additional adult help. If you are able to spare some of your time to help us at our evening meetings.
